CIRCULARITY ON THE FORERUN – CHANGES AND CHALLENGES

Marina CHAHBOUNE – Sustainability Specialist @ SUPPPORT LTD

Circular economy is here to stay – a whole industry has committed itself to go circular. But how about the intimates industry? Is it possible to implement closed loop strategies? What are the chances, what are the challenges? Giving concrete examples of suitable circular business strategies and best practice examples.

With a growing population, going along with emerging markets, the apparel industry will face the challenges of an increasing demand for textile fibers, environmental pollution and a shortage of resources. While the current inefficient linear economy model of ´take – make – dispose` is wasting valuable resources, the circular economy represents a huge opportunity, not only when it comes to increasing resource security and reducing the environmental impact of production, but also for creating economical growth.
