Alge Elastic, which began on the Lake Constance shores, is a family embroidery business created by Albert Alge in 1923. Since 1932 the company has been a leading name in the elastic band and braided cord market. The business expanded a first time in 1947 and acquired its first needle loom machine in 1954. After expanding its site in 1975, Alge Elastic bought the United Band Factories to meet increasing orders.
Today the integrated factory in Lustenau produces a wide range of products in woven and knitted bands, both rigid and elastic, for the lingerie, legwear, activewear, and men’s intimates markets. The company is also active in the medical and technical (automotive, engineering, etc.) sectors.
Quality and creativity are the company’s strengths as well as a mastery of weaving, knitting, and all types of finishings. The collections are up-to-date and creative, and materials are soft and comfortable. Woven and crocheted waistbands – plain or multi-coloured, discreet or extravagant – boast top quality support and hold.
The ISO 9001, Oeko-Tex and SteP certified company now also offers green C2C (cradle to cradle) developments. Custom projects in partnership with clients is common practice. In addition, Alge Elastic provides stock service on a range of certain products.
