From African vibes to tropical jungles, can we let loose with prints?
Last summer at the Mode City Lyon trade show, we told you the southern hemisphere would invade ss17 and brighten the swimwear and beachwear collections with a mix & match of prints to inspire get-aways. No more interminable floral prints, this season we’ll show off an explosion of patterns from sunny southern cultures!

RULE N°1 / RESPECT YOUR BODY TYPE
This season oversized prints might be everywhere, but they’re not for everybody.
The rounder your figure, the more important that prints be small and dense. So let’s forget about the giant pineapple right in the middle of a one-piece! Opt for deep tones, subtle colour combinations, and prints with graphic lines.
For slim figures, big prints are great and even perfect for adding volume where it’s lacking. You can dive right into the clash of colours and tropical prints.
RULE N°2 / RESPECT YOUR SKIN AND HAIR COLOUR
The tropical trend might seem like it’s best suited to darker skin and hair, but lighter skin can also be flattered by this vast family of prints. It’s all a question of dominant colours.
Olive to black skin, golden to brown hair:
Say “yes” to warm, sunny colours, spicy tones, and earthen hues that will bring you radiance. Choose from vegetal greens to saffron according to your body type.
Light skin and cool blond hair:
Avoid tones with a dominance of yellow (orange, camel, etc.) that will make your skin and hair look dull. Choose from the jungle’s palette of shimmery pinks (coral to prune), sea blues, and vegetal to khaki greens. If you sunburn easily, avoid the classic red swimsuit.
Pale skin and red hair:
Prints in ethno-tropical colours are perfect for you! If your red hair has blond tones, choose lighter colours. If your hair is copper or dark red, go for spicy shades.
